ABOUT ME.

Welcome Tri-Valley Parents to the 2017-2018 school year! My name is Renee Anderson and I am the Professional Elementary School Counselor, Test Coordinator, Student Council Adviser, Mentor Coordinator and assistant volleyball coach here at Tri-Valley. This is my fifth year here and I am loving every minute of it!

I have a master's degree in School Counseling (M.S.) from South Dakota State University and a bachelor's degree in both Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Michigan- Dearborn. I am a former volleyball player for the NAIA as a Wolverine (#goBIGblue) where I had the privilege of being awarded the NAIA All American team in 2007.

I enjoy DIY projects, reading, dancing, coaching, and most importantly, spending time with my family!

My passion is helping students succeed in all areas of their lives. It's an honor having the opportunity to work with the students, families, and staff here at Tri-Valley!

what is SCHOOL COUNSELING?

A professional school counselor is a certified/licensed educator trained in school counseling with unique qualifications and skills to address all students, academic, personal/social and career development needs. As a school counselor, I am an educator trained in school counseling. My goal at Tri-Valley is to develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program designed to meet the needs of ALL  of our elementary students.

COUNSELOR Confidentiality.

The rules of confidentiality for counselors are very different from those of teachers.  Confidentiality is important to maintain a trusting relationship with students.  Students are told that what they tell Mrs. Anderson is a 'secret' unless someone is in danger.  Only then will Mrs. Anderson tell someone to make sure they are safe and healthy.  Information is never disclosed to other staff members, parents, or students unless permission is granted from that particular student.  If a student discloses information deemed crucial to a child's safety or well-being, the student is informed that his/her parents must be notified.
